Hi there, my name is Brendan Harding.
I was born and raised in Ireland – that small teddy-bear-shaped island which clings to the edge of the European landmass, like a child to its mother’s hand. Like most islanders I spent my formative years wondering what, and who, lies out there beyond the horizon.
During the great recession of the 1980’s I watched my friends depart our homeland, each one carrying a generous portion of my envy in their luggage. I watched them return and listened to their tales of the ‘out there’ and my imagination was filled to bursting.
When my turn finally came it was to Russia; I can still remember that overwhelming feeling of standing in Red Square on a snowy winter night and knowing that inside of me a new lust had been spawned. The lust for travel.
Combined with a qualification in creative writing I now travel far and wide; unearthing the stones of culture and history, sampling the tastes of nations and of time, filling my heart, and my notebooks, with the wonders of nature and man, and reliving them in words so others may share.
Since I first met Nelson Carvalheiro, in the Kingdom of Bahrain, I have been inspired by the force of his imaginings, by his ethic for work, by his constant craving for excellence, and by the ever-changing creativity of both his pen and lens. I am in fine company.
Through this fine company I now keep, I will explore even further; returning with better stories, fresher words and crisper images, presenting sights, sounds, tastes and smells and hoping to inspire you to witness these places for yourself.
I look forward, every day to the road ahead – why don’t you join me?
